Keep Fit With a Cross Trainer
Losing weight for the New Year, a summer holiday, special occasion has always given us good reason to get started on an exercise regime. This should be part of a healthy life style unfortunately we don’t always stick to our best laid plans and have to start all over again.
Some of us need a little encouragement and motivation to keep us going; the good news is there are many exercise machines that can do just that like the cross trainer. Cross trainers are ideal if you want to lose some weight, become more flexible, or increase your everyday fitness.
Cross Trainers
Cross trainers or elliptical trainers are growing in popularity and offer a gentler form of workout that can be performed in the comfort of your own home. There are claims that using a cross trainer exercises more muscle groups simultaneously and is therefore more efficient in burning calories.
If you like toned and supple limbs but don’t like the high-impact, muscle-building effects of lifting weights, look into buying an elliptical cross trainer.
Elliptical cross trainers are great for people all ages and fitness levels. They are easy to use require little practice and allow you to select a difficulty level through incline and intensity settings. Buying the best cross trainer for your own needs can be a bit daunting.
Cardiovascular exercise machines
For those not familiar with this versatile piece of fitness equipment; they are low impact cardiovascular exercise machines that simulate motions experienced through walking, stepping, cycling and skiing. Cross trainers remain stationary and are used by standing in an upright position while holding on to the handrail. You keep your feet on the footplates and by circulating in a smooth fluid motion build strength in your arms and legs with little or no impact on the knees, back and hips.
Popular Elliptical Cross Trainer Brands
You’ll find a large number of brands names making sports and fitness equipment with most of them now producing a range of cross trainers. Some of these include:
- Bremshi
- Tunturi
- Horizon
- Nautilus
- Carl Lewis
- Kettler
- BH Fitness
As with most fitness equipment purchases the best advice is to buy a high quality brand that has the features that most suit your needs. Features like resistant systems and stride length vary from machine to machine so it is always best to check and compare the specifications on all the machines you are interested in.
